On May 22nd 2015, Mr Youngsuk Chi, the Chairman of Elsevier Pulishing Group, be in lead of the Elsevier delegation made a visit to SJTU. SJTU President Zhang Jie, Vice President Zhu Jian and other university leaders received the delegation on Minhang Campus. SJTU Press President Han Jianmin and Chief Editor Zhang Tianwei also joined the meeting.



During the meeting, President Zhang Jie and Chairman Youngsuk Chi had a conversation on the Smart City and Smart Campus program cooperation. Chairman Youngsuk Chi indicated his interests in these programs, and he stressed Elsevier’s strength in information and data analysis.



VicePresident Zhu Jian expressed his warm welcome for Elsevier’s visit. He introduced the current development status of China’s higher education, and spoke highly of the cooperative achievements between Elsevier & SJTU, and Elsevier & SJTU Press. He also pointed out a further cooperation prospect that is relating to the strength of SJTU, Elsevier and SJTU cooperate in not only aerospace, but also marine and medical science.



SJTU Press President Han Jianmin proposed to add the information data of academic books (Both English and Chinese version) published by SJTU Press to Elsevier’s Scopus, enhancing SJTU Press’ international reputation as well as increasing Elsevier’s popularity in China. Moreover, the establishment of the Global Science Innovation Center in Shanghai would be another great cooperation opportunity.



Approaching the end of the meeting, Vice President Zhu Jian gave The Wealth of Nations published by SJTU Press to Elsevier delegation as a present. Mr Youngsuk Chi emphasized his determination to enhance the current cooperation achievements and to explore further cooperative potential.
